At Ivy House School our pupils have access to a curriculum which features a similar breadth and balance of both core and non-core subjects. Ensuring this important equilibrium helps to better equip pupils with a broad variety of skills to be lifelong learners and a well-rounded, happy and confident children. Exploring a pupil’s natural gifts, in addition to covering the core subjects such as English, mathematics and science, encourages individual learning, motivating each child to continue with that learning throughout their life – a key skill.
We promote a calm and purposeful environment, where children are simultaneously supported and challenged to endeavour in all areas of learning and social development. We find that this helps our pupils to strive for their goals with confidence and to exceed their own expectations.
Our curriculum combines traditional methods with current pedagogical research and advances in technology. Our individualised learning programme prepares pupils for entry into the finest senior schools in London and beyond.
The beautiful Ivy House, former home of prima ballerina Anna Pavlova and once occupied by JMW Turner, has undergone significant refurbishment, transforming 12000 square feet into 14 spacious classrooms. The school houses a state of the art science lab and multi-purpose hall for dining and sport, complete with ballet barre and mirror. Pupils will have the most current classroom technology as well as specialist teachers for IT, music, sport and languages.
In keeping with the tradition of the building, children enjoy ballet lessons, as well as PE and sport. Children can join the choir and drama group (Spencer Stage School) and a variety of exciting clubs, including gardening, coding, arts and crafts and Spanish.
LAMDA and private music tuition is offered during the school day. Further details can be found on our Extra-Curricular Activities page.
