On Tuesday 24th January, St. Anthony’s School for Girls were joined by parents, visitors and Bishop John Wilson, Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, to celebrate its official school blessing. The pupils led us in a collective act of worship, centered on the theme of ‘Firm Foundations’. Reception laid our prayer space clearly and reflectively whilst Year 3 read the Parable of the Foolish Builder and explained its importance. The girls spoke clearly and eloquently about the importance of not just listening to Jesus’ message of living a good life but that we should lay the foundation of this message in our hearts, acting on it. They connected this parable with our patron saint’s message of letting our words ‘teach’ but our ‘actions’ speak. In his reflection, Bishop John reminded the girls of their mission as founding pupils to live out the gospel values of love, compassion, service and respect both in school and in our wider community.
