This week, the pupils had the opportunity to visit Alyth Synagogue in Golders Green. The girls were able to explore the synagogue and learn all about the different parts that they had been looking at lessons. Pupils were able to point out the ner tamid, bimah and ark, and were able to see the ark opened to view the beautifully-covered Torah scrolls. The girls especially enjoyed seeing Ed wearing a kippah and tallit holding the scroll. Afterwards, we experienced a set Shabbat table, listened to the prayers in Hebrew that would be spoken by the woman of the house, and even got to try some challah and grape juice, just like a family would have. It was a fantastic visit that the girls enjoyed, especially being able to put their learning from school into practice. Many thanks again to Alyth for having us.
