Our Supportive and Caring Community

Central to the Ivy House school experience is our shared focus on ‘The Common Good’. It is our duty to support and help those in need. Charitable work teaches learners the importance of reaching out to others by supporting and engaging with local, national and international groups. Our chosen charities support children who lack access to an exceptional education - the kind many of us take for granted. In addition to benefitting those in need, our charitable outreach helps pupils too by developing a sense of social responsibility.

Magic Breakfast

Magic Breakfast is a registered UK charity that provides schools with healthy breakfast food and expert support, ensuring no child is too hungry to learn. A hungry child cannot concentrate so will miss out on half a day of lessons, every day, if not given anything to eat. Magic Breakfast supports schools with 35% or more pupils eligible for free school meals by delivering healthy food and bespoke advice on the best way of reaching every vulnerable and malnourished child. We have supported Magic Breakfast in the past through fundraising at events like Mothers’ and Fathers’ Day Breakfasts.

VSO – Sisters for Sisters' Education

Many adolescent girls in Nepal are prevented from going to and staying in school long enough to receive the consistent, quality education they deserve. Over four years, our Sisters for Sisters’ Education project is keeping vulnerable girls in school, and helping those who have dropped out get back into education. They do this through direct coaching and support for girls from peer mentor ‘big sisters’ and specialist volunteer support and training in schools and at government level to make education more inclusive for girls across Nepal. Examples of fundraising activities for VSO include the selling of bags screen-printed by the pupils themselves.

Ivy House School Bursary Appeal

Ivy House School is a caring, supportive community that draws strength from the diversity of our families and their life experiences. The result is a lively, varied learning environment that we cherish. Our Bursary Fund aims to provide access to our school for students and families from different economic backgrounds. This has the dual impact of making a life-changing difference for the individual student while enriching the school experience and perspectives of all students.

The Charity

The Gold Standard Charitable Trust (GSCT) raises funds for bursaries at Inspired UK schools, including the Ivy House Bursary Fund. The purpose of this fund is to support current bursary recipients while also adding one or more additional recipients each year. Donations to this fund will be designated to students at Ivy House School but may be re-allocated to another Inspired UK school to which the recipient transfers. If all the needs of Ivy House students are completely met, funds may be used where the need is greatest among the schools GSCT serves.
