A World-Class Nursery School in Hampstead

Our onsite nursery welcomes girls and boys aged 2 to 4 years, offering a high-quality educational environment with exceptional teachers and early years practitioners.

In keeping with the statutory framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), our nursery curriculum involves adult- and child-led activities, with emphasis on communication, language, and physical and emotional development. Our little ones foster the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to move easily into a full-time prep school day by age 4.

Priority consideration will be given to parents who wish their sons and daughters to join Reception classes at Ivy House School. Families are warmly invited to visit Ivy House to meet the Head and staff, who will happily take you on a tour of the premises and share their unique vision for our nursery.

Why Choose Our Nursery?

Why Choose Our Nursery?

At Ivy House Nursery, we believe that children reach their true potential when they feel safe, secure and valued as part of the community. Significant emphasis is placed on nurturing the individual student in an environment where learning is enjoyable, and pupils develop a passion for knowledge. In addition to outstanding facilities, this is accomplished owing to the talent and expertise of our professional, highly-qualified nursery teachers.

From the outset, children and families are fully integrated into the life of our school community. Families seeking a nurturing, kind and academically enriching environment – based on the values of both boys’ and girls’ schools – have been delighted with their experience to date. We are also the ideal choice for those looking for a seamless educational path from nursery to Year 6.

Nursery Programme

Nursery Programme

Our EYFS curriculum aims to promote curiosity, interaction, independence and, most importantly, a love of learning. In preparation for Reception entry, learners develop key skills along with knowledge and an understanding of the world around them, including through regular ‘learning in nature’ lessons at Golders Hill Park.

Children will also be stronger communicators and self-assured as learners owing to the carefully planned timetable they follow. Drama, music, French, sport and dance have been interwoven into the schedule allowing pupils to benefit from the rich specialist curriculum on offer across the school.

Nursery children enjoy plenty of reflection, singing and celebration in assemblies, explore science on ‘Whacky Wednesdays’, and participate in all major school events, such as Wellbeing Week, Science Week, Book Week, Harvest Food Appeal, STEAM week, remembrance service, the Christmas show, end-of-term disco, and pancake day celebrations.

Activities at Our Nursery

Our nursery children have enjoyed colourful and creative autumn and spring terms so far. From finding treasure in the sandpit at Golders Hill Park, to art and craft lessons from girls in Year 6, travelling to space in their own bespoke spaceship, making bread and butter and bird feeders for RSPB Birdwatching Week, our nursery programme is packed full of fun, stimulating and inspiring activities.
